Motor Vehicles

Across the history of humanity, people have been trying to move faster and faster, whether that be on top of a horse, or by plane. But the most agreed upon and most common form of transportation would be that of an automobile. Whether it is their fuel efficiency and easy use, or the speed at which they can consistently measure at, cars are seemingly one of the best ways to get around.

Although cars should just be seen for their practical use as a form of transportation, lots of people use cars to express some part of their socio-economic identity. People might use their car to show off how much money they make, or try and compensate for the lack of it. One thing is for certain though, cars are rarely appreciated for their intricate combustion engines which spin a piston at 8000 revolutions per minute.

Although cars and automobiles seem to be an important part of mainstream media, it appears that cars are declining in popularity. As of the last decade, the purchasing of motor vehicles has gone down by almost four million units sold yearly. Although this is not great for the economy, it seems that people are focusing more on public transportation and improving the state of the environment

.

The drop in sales of motor vehicles seems to be directly associated with the levels of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. Carbon monoxide levels peaked at the start of the twentieth century, at the same time as the most sales of cars in one year occurred in U.S. history. This should be no surprise to most people, but it just goes to show how cars have affected the world both positively and negatively.
